![]() ![]() It's just as easy to do the whole DVD but takes about 3 weeks to do it. I ripped Geri's Game from the Bugs Life DVD we already own, as a self-contained movie and put it straight onto the iPod (via iTunes of course)Īlso did the same with Mike's New Car (from Monster's Inc) Luxo Jnr, and others. For example, Geri's Game is £1.89 on iTunes Store. ![]() Using Handbrake, I've very easily managed to choose which chapters to rip from a DVD. But oh my God, one has to pay for it! $25!! Therefore disqualified from competing in the "Incredibly Cool Software And Y'Know What - It's Free!" market. Mac The Ripper is great for putting DVD material onto your hard disk and taking out all the region coding/macrovision etc so you can then burn said DVD onto another blank DVD - for 'backup' purposes of course.(Handy for converting Region 1 DVD's to be playable in non-multi region players in the UK)ĭVDxDV, also good stuff. The advantage Handbrake has is that it converts DVD straight into MPEG4 and therefore "iPod-ready" in one move, rather than two using MTR. Mac The Ripper (MTR) is absolutely superb, and very reliable too. ![]() Julie - Mac the Ripper is another good piece of software for ripping DVDs as well as DVDxDV. Sony Vegas Movie Studio ver 8 has no problems loading and editing AVI files, and the raw uncompressed Audio & Video content in the AVI file will be a 'mirror' of the video playback from the DVD.Remember that the content for iPods has a pixel size of 320 (HD content is 1080, and wide screen 720), so the size of the file is correspondingly small I also like the Noise Reduction function in Pinnacle Studio Plus, and have used it in cases where I needed to really damp down some b/g hiss from a noisy environment. I have found that Sony Vegas Movie Studio version 8 is plenty powerful, stable, and feature-rich for producing std def video content and rendering it to a wide varity of platforms. You can get version 8 from Internet sources real cheap right now because Sony has already moved on to version 9. I myself prefer Sony Vegas Movie Studio software, either Version 8 or Version 9, for editing std def video on a home PC. MacX DVD Ripper Free EditionDownload free DVD ripper for Mac to rip DVD to MP4, MOV on Mac without DVD rip errors. This is because AVI is a widely recognized video file format. You can then use any of a wide variety of video editing programs to load, manipulate, and edit the raw uncompressed AVI or DVAVI file. All the raw content is now saved in the local AVI or DV-AVI capture file. When the video has reached the end, you press STOP on the video capture GUI and STOP on the Dvd Player. The Pinnacle capture function captures the digital video frames and saves them to the capture file. The DVD player will play the DVD, send std video & stereo audio content to the Dazzle, and the Dazzle will convert the std A/V analog signals into a new digitized stream. When you think you are ready, you click the button in the capture GUI to start capturing video frames from the Dazzle, and THEN you press the PLAY button on the DVD player. But thats OK because what you want is high quality, uncompressed, raw digital video content. (To give you an idea, a std 720x480 29.97fps video captured to AVI or DV-AVI can easily take 10-12 GB for 1 hour of video content. Choose a high bandwidth (large number) so that the software will have plenty of data per second to convert the video content to raw uncompressed content. Choose the aspect ration (std 4:3 or wide 16:9), whichever matches the video on the DVD. When you set up the capture file, choose AVI or DVAVI file format so as to get raw uncompressed digital video. You want to set up a 'video capture' session, so that you capture every frame of video produced by the Dazzle and save that to a local capture file on the local hard drive. Then you start the Pinnacle Studio Plus software running on the computer. You put the DVD video disk into the player to get it ready to play. You hook your DVD video player to the Video, Audio-Left, and Audio-Right (input ports) on the Dazzle. You hook the USB port of the Dazzle to a USB port on your computer. You install all the software that comes with the Dazzle. That purchase will give you the Dazzle video converter, the Dazzle drivers, and Pinnacle video editing software. It will cost somewhere in the neigborhood of $90. In your scenario, you would buy the Dazzle with Pinnacle Studio Plus software. You can get a Dazzle unit from places like Best Buy. One way to go about this is to use a Dazzle video converter to convert a std A/V signal to a new digitized stream that is uploaded to a computer. Instead of trying to extract video from the std DVD (which is already compressed and has experienced image quality loss), try instead to recapture the video content to a new raw uncompressed video file in a common format. ![]()
